Wikipediots qualify for Intel IO

Wikipediots are the winners of the first online qualifier for Intel Core Challenge by Inferno Online, beating tempteam from Norway to qualify.

The first online qualifier for the $10,000 Intel Core Challenge by Inferno Online tournament in Stockholm has come to an end, with Danish team Wikipediots earning a spot at the main event.

Wikipediots did not face any resistance till the semi-final, where they met with bellum. The Swedish team gave the Danes great resistance, but in the end Timm "ArcadioN" Henriksen's team managed to pull off a 16-14 win on de_dust2. In the other semi-final Anexis took on tempteam, a match the Norwegians went on to win 16-13 on de_dust2 as well.

The final was played on de_nuke, with the Norwegians taking the lead in the first half, playing from the Terrorists side. Towards the end of the half, the Danes caught up and secured a three round lead at half time, leading 9-6.

Second half began just like first half, with tempteam winning the pistol round. Little did it help them, as they were only able to string together another three rounds on the scoreboard, seeing Wikipediots claim their seventh to win 16-10.

Wikipediots are now qualified for Intel Core Challenge by Inferno Online, taking place at Stockholm Esport Arena on May 12. Following five teams are so far attending the event:

The next online qualifier will take place on Sunday, once again with a maximum of 64 participating teams and the winning team will qualify for the $10,000 tournament. Teams wanting to signup can do so by clicking here.

LAN qualifiers will take place Thursday and Friday next week, both at Inferno Online and a maximum of eight teams will be able to participate.
